Noble House

In 1988, Noble House aired as a four-part miniseries. The show was a hit with viewers and critics alike with its tale of intrigue and crime set amidst Hong Kong's rich and powerful elite. At the center of the story is Ian Dunross (played by Pierce Brosnan), the dashing and successful executive who serves as the Tai-Pan, or leader, of Struan & Company, one of Hong Kong's oldest and most influential trading firms. As head of Struan's, Dunross has inherited a legacy of intense rivalry and hatred from his predecessor, Quillian Gornt (John Rhys-Davies), who will stop at nothing to ruin him and take control of Struan's for himself. As Dunross navigates dangerous business dealings and battles against Gornt, he also finds himself caught up in personal entanglements with Casey Tcholok (Deborah Raffin), an attractive vice president who works for American billionaire Linc Bartlett (Ben Masters). Bartlett arrives in Hong Kong with the apparent goal of closing a profitable deal with Dunross that will benefit Struan's but he has a hidden agenda: to secretly back Gornt in his quest to take control of Struan's. Meanwhile other characters with their own motives enter the picture. There's Lincoln Chen, whose father, Phillip Chen, works for Struan & Company; he secretly gives important financial documents to Bartlett but later regrets it. Wu Sang Fang is an opium lord looking to expand his criminal enterprise; he obtains an ancient coin that holds the key to controlling Tai-Pan, which ultimately gets stolen by one of his henchmen leading to a series of violent events. Brian Kwok is a police superintendent who becomes embroiled in Chinese espionage in British-controlled Hong Kong. The plot thickens, tensions rise, and loyalties are tested as Dunross fights to keep his company and his personal life intact while navigating these dangerous waters. Will he be able to outsmart his enemies and come out on top? The gripping drama, intricate plot twists throughout Noble House will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end!
