In the small town of Brorfelde, a group of friends, including a curious young girl named Sus and her new pal Bob, embark on a thrilling adventure filled with mysterious events. They soon discover that a group of three eccentric scientists, Petersen, Pallesen, and Piil, have moved into the abandoned observatory on the outskirts of town. As the scientists begin conducting strange experiments, strange things start happening in Brorfelde. Vera Grus, a friendly woman who owns a nearby nursery, claims there's "gold in the ground" and wants to get her hands on all the good soil in the area. Meanwhile, Bob's dad Big-J is struggling to keep his community center open. With the help of Sus's mischievous grandmother and her friends, the group uncovers the truth behind the scientists' experiments and saves the day.
