In & Out

In the charming town of Greenleaf, Indiana, a well-respected English teacher named Howard Brackett (Kevin Kline) is about to marry his fiancée, fellow teacher Emily Montgomery (Joan Cusack). However, their happy day is disrupted when Howard's former student, Cameron Drake (Matt Dillon), wins an Academy Award for his portrayal of a gay soldier and publicly outs Howard as a gay man. As news of Howard's sexuality spreads, he becomes the talk of the town and faces scrutiny from his boss, friends, and family. Despite his denials, Howard's fiancée Emily begins to doubt their relationship, and the pair's wedding plans are put in jeopardy. Meanwhile, entertainment reporter Peter Malloy (Tom Selleck) arrives in Greenleaf to cover Howard's story and ends up becoming friends with the teacher. Peter, who is also gay, shares his own coming-out experience with Howard and encourages him to embrace his true identity. In a series of hilarious and heartwarming moments, Howard struggles to come to terms with his sexuality while navigating the challenges of small-town life. Will he find the courage to be true to himself and follow his heart, or will he continue to live a life that isn't truly his own?
