What is Down Periscope about? 
Lieutenant Commander Thomas Dodge, a brilliant but unconventional Navy officer, has been passed over for command twice before. When he's offered a third chance, he's assigned to the USS Stingray, a diesel-powered submarine from the Second World War era that's barely seaworthy. Dodge's crew is a collection of misfits: a diving officer with a fear of depths, an executive officer with a penchant for clogging toilets, a chief engineer who's a civilian contractor with a drinking problem, and an electrician who keeps getting electrocuted. Despite their shortcomings, Dodge and his crew must prove themselves in a war game against the Navy's best. They face a series of challenges that test their skills and their ability to work together as a team.
