The Passion of the Christ

The Passion of the Christ is a film that tells the story of the last twelve hours of Jesus' life, from his prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane to his crucifixion and death. The film depicts Jesus' arrest, trial, and condemnation by the Sanhedrin and Pontius Pilate, as well as his brutal beating and scourging by the Roman guards. It also shows how Judas Iscariot, one of Jesus' disciples, betrayed him for thirty pieces of silver and later took his own life in guilt. The film features stunning visuals and a cast of well-known actors, including Jim Caviezel as Jesus, Monica Bellucci as Mary Magdalene, and Robert Davi as Pontius Pilate. It was directed by Mel Gibson, who was also responsible for writing the screenplay. The Passion of the Christ was released in 2004 and sparked controversy due to its graphic violence and what some saw as anti-Semitic undertones.
