Beth Harris is getting married. The only problem is she already has a husband; semi-pro surfer, Sonny Baker. Six years after he walked out on her after their very short marriage, Beth has moved on, started a law career and become engaged to her very stable and mature law partner, James. But when faced with the prospect of telling James about her past nuptial mistakes, she instead tries to get a divorce by heading out to Southern California to track down her irresponsible ex. Getting Sonny's signature and ending their union gets a little complicated after a simple clerical error keeps Beth in town for one more night. That is just enough time for the two college sweethearts to surf through memories both painful and sweet, as they discover there may still be a few sparks between them. Beth is then faced with making the difficult choice of going after what she wants, or playing it safe.
