In the crime-ridden underworld of New York City, a young Chinese woman named Sister Tse (Shuya Chang) has been brought by a human smuggler, known as a "Snakehead," to work in a brothel. Despite her initial struggles, Tse quickly gains favor with the matriarch of the crime family, Dai Mah (Jade Wu), and rises through the ranks. However, her success comes at a cost: she must endure harsh mistreatment by men while working in the brothel. As she tries to find her footing in this dangerous world, Tse's ultimate goal is to find her daughter Rosie, who was taken from her and adopted by a New York couple. Will she be able to reconcile her success with her true reason for coming to America, or will she become consumed by the darkness that surrounds her?
