Nomad: In the Footsteps of Bruce Chatwin

In this documentary film, Werner Herzog embarks on a journey to uncover stories of lost tribes, wanderers and dreamers, inspired by his late friend and kindred spirit Bruce Chatwin's passion for the nomadic life. Through visits to Patagonia, the Black Mountains in Wales, and the Outback of Australia, Herzog meets Chatwin's friends and others who shed light on his life and art, as well as exploring their shared interest in the mysteries stitching together life on earth. Along the way, Herzog reflects on Chatwin's unfinished book The Nomadic Alternative, his love of Aboriginal culture, and the anthropologist Ted Strehlow's work in Central Australia. As he delves deeper into Chatwin's world, Herzog uncovers a rich tapestry of history, culture, and spirituality that reveals the ecstatic truth of their shared quest.
