What is Nemesis about? Toggle content

In the year 2027, a disillusioned assassin/bounty hunter named Alex Rain, part-man and part-machine, is on a mission to track down Rosaria – the leader of a militant group called The Red Army Hammerheads; however, during the routine mission, Alex is nearly killed by Rosaria; eighty-six point five percent of him is still human – both mentally and physically. After months of recovery, Alex kills Rosaria but decides he has had enough; he leaves the LAPD, becoming a freelance hustler and triggerman. Unfortunately, his LAPD bosses are just letting him run free for a while; his old boss, Commissioner Farnsworth, has him kidnapped and brought in for one final assignment. Jared – Alex's former lover who is an android – has stolen vital security information regarding an upcoming summit between Japan and the United States. She must be stopped before she leaks the plans to the Hammerheads. Commissioner Farnsworth tells Alex that a bomb was implanted in his heart during his latest repairs: he is given three days to find Jared before she meets with Angie-Liv, the leader of the Hammerheads; otherwise, it will detonate and kill him. Alex is turned loose as bait for Jared in Shang-Loo on Java after flying there. The assignment is not as straightforward as it seems. Ultimately, hammerheads fight for humanity's future; a newly-designed android is infiltrating society's higher echelons through synthetic bodies; unfortunately, Farnsworth has already been replaced by Sam, who was redesigned to look like him. Jared threatens their plans so that Alex's real mission is to smoke her out so the synthetics can destroy her. A burnt-out man, Julian – a cyborg representing Jared - tells him that he is being followed by an LAPD strike team led by "Farnsworth", waiting for its opportunity to hit the Hammerheads and Jared. Julian sacrifices herself to allow Alex to escape after removing a surveillance device implanted in his eye and injecting him with a digital scrambler preventing his bomb from being remotely detonated. She gives him Jared's memory core, enabling him to talk to her. Alex eventually joins up with Max Impact - a local woman fronting as a tour guide who acts as scout for the latter while want Alex dead. She brings him to the Hammerheads who is convinced by Angie Liv to join their cause amid a strike team storming the hotel that led most of their deaths including Angie Liv. He eventually joins the fight, defeating Farnsworth's men, launching their escape vehicle, meeting Yoshiro - a surviving Hammerhead - at a secret hangar where Alex defeats cyborg Farnsworth. Unfortunately, he suffers grave injuries in return.
