In a future society where crime is predicted and prevented by a special police unit, the unit's commander, John Anderton (Tom Cruise), is accused of a future murder. With only 36 hours to clear his name, Anderton must race against time to find the true culprit and uncover a conspiracy threatening to destroy the entire system. As he delves deeper into the mystery, Anderton encounters a cast of intriguing characters, including Max von Sydow as the enigmatic Director of Precrime Lamar Burgess, Colin Farrell as the ambitious Department of Justice agent Danny Witwer, and Samantha Morton as Agatha Lively, the most gifted of the three precognitive beings known as "precogs." With the help of his loyal team, including Neal McDonough and Patrick Kilpatrick as Precrime officers, Anderton must use all his skills and resources to unravel a complex web of deceit and betrayal, and uncover the truth behind the murder that has not yet occurred. Along the way, he must confront his own demons and question everything he thought he knew about the system he has devoted his life to upholding.
