In a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies, a small group of survivors have barricaded themselves inside a walled city, ruled by a ruthless plutocrat named Paul Kaufman. The city is divided into two classes: the wealthy and powerful living in luxury high-rise buildings, and the rest of the population struggling to survive in squalor. Riley Denbo, a respected designer and commander of an armored personnel vehicle called Dead Reckoning, ventures into zombie-infested areas to scavenge for supplies and retrieve luxury items for Kaufman's regime. When Riley notices intelligent behavior among the zombies, he realizes that they are evolving and becoming more dangerous. After a mission goes awry and one of his crew members is bitten by a zombie, Riley retires from commanding Dead Reckoning and plans to leave the city for Canada. However, he soon finds himself back in the city, where he sees a prostitute named Slack being forced into a cage with zombies for entertainment purposes. Riley must decide whether to intervene or continue on his journey away from the chaos.
