In 1398 Korea, power-hungry men vie for control amidst royal succession and political intrigue while a brilliant general, Kim Min Jae (Shin Ha-kyun), keeps a watchful eye on Yi Bang-won (Jang Hyuk), a son of the king with ambitions of seizing the throne. Meanwhile, Kim Min-jae's son, Jin (Kang Ha-neul), seeks only pleasure, unaware of the dangerous games being played. As alliances are forged and broken, the fates of these men become inextricably linked, leading to a tumultuous clash of passions, politics, and power.
