Carlito's Way

Carlito's Way is a crime drama film directed by Brian De Palma, starring Al Pacino, Sean Penn, and Penelope Ann Miller. The movie follows the story of Carlito Brigante (Pacino), a former drug lord who is released from prison after serving five years of a 30-year sentence. Determined to leave his criminal past behind, Carlito takes on a job as the manager of a nightclub owned by his lawyer and friend, David Kleinfeld (Penn). However, Carlito's efforts to stay on the straight and narrow are complicated by his association with shady characters from his past, including Benny Blanco (John Leguizamo), a rising gangster who idolizes Carlito's reputation. As Carlito tries to balance his legitimate job with his loyalty to his old associates, he becomes embroiled in a web of violence and corruption that threatens to destroy everything he has worked for.
