Alexander

Alexander (2004) is a historical drama film directed by Oliver Stone, which recounts the life of Alexander the Great, from his childhood to his death at the age of 32. The film follows Alexander's journey as he conquers 90% of the known world, including Greece, Persia, Afghanistan, and India. Alongside his military campaigns, the film explores Alexander's personal relationships with his family and closest friends, including his mother Olympias, father Philip II of Macedon, and childhood friend Hephaestion. Throughout the film's narrative structure that jumps between different time periods interwoven with flashbacks and dream sequences within a frame story told by Ptolemy I Soter - one of Alexander's closest generals - who narrates the biography in 285 BC; we witness how this legendary leader was both a man ahead of its time regarding visionary thinking & strategic prowess on one hand while also being driven by passions & flaws just like any human being on the other - finally succumbing to an untimely death shrouded in mystery that would leave behind an indelible mark upon history forevermore.
