The State

The State follows the lives of four young British citizens who leave their homes to join ISIS in Syria. Shakira, a doctor and single mother, hopes to work in a state hospital, while Jalal, a teenager, seeks to understand his deceased brother's experiences. Ushna, a fierce teenager, wants to be a "lioness for lions," and Ziyad, Jalal's friend, joins him seeking adventure. As they immerse themselves in ISIS culture, they soon realize that the harsh realities of war and the ideology of ISIS are far from their dreams. The series offers a gripping insight into life under ISIS rule and the personal struggles faced by those who join the organization.
