The title character of “The People vs. Fritz Bauer” was a fascinating man whose career as a prosecutor, trying to expose the crimes of the Nazis, certainly deserves the dramatic treatment director Lars Kraume gives it here.

Den er tætpakket med information, men den megen kundskab er kilet elegant ind i lag på lag af filmisk tekstur, der henrykker én. Scenografien alene kunne give basis for en længere analyse af industrividunderets Tyskland...

What is The People vs. Fritz Bauer about? Toggle content

The People vs. Fritz Bauer is a movie that tells the story of a German attorney general named Fritz Bauer who is determined to bring Nazi war criminals to justice. He is especially focused on finding and prosecuting Adolf Eichmann, who was a key figure in the Holocaust. Bauer faces opposition from within his own government and law enforcement agencies, who are reluctant to confront the dark past of the Third Reich. He becomes increasingly convinced that the only way to achieve justice is to collaborate with the Israeli secret service, Mossad. The movie follows Bauer's journey as he works tirelessly to build a case against Eichmann, despite the obstacles in his way. He receives a promising lead from Argentina, where a man claims to have information about Eichmann's whereabouts. Bauer travels to Jerusalem to meet with Mossad agents and share his evidence, hoping to convince them to help him bring Eichmann to justice. Meanwhile, Bauer's young assistant, Karl Angermann, finds himself caught up in a dangerous game of cat and mouse. He is approaches by Victoria, a transgender woman who is connected to the defendant in a homosexual trial that Angermann is working on. Victoria invites Angermann out for a night on the town, but their evening is interrupted by photos taken by the BKA (Federal Criminal Police Office) showing Angermann engaging in sexual activities with Victoria. The BKA uses these photos to blackmail Angermann and tries to force him into revealing sensitive information about Bauer's investigation. As Bauer and Angermann work together on the case, they uncover disturbing secrets about Eichmann's whereabouts and the involvement of high-ranking officials in his protection. They must navigate a complex web of intrigue and deception if they hope to succeed in their mission to bring Eichmann to justice. Will they be able to overcome the obstacles arrayed against them, or will their efforts be thwarted by the powerful forces seeking to protect the Nazi war criminals?
