"Springet" is a gripping and thought-provoking war documentary that follows the story of a young Dane's experiences during the Finnish Civil War in 1918 and its consequences for his life and fate. Through the voice and perspective of Peter de Hemmer Gudme, the film takes us on a journey from the war-torn battlefields to the winter war and finally to the Nazi occupation, where Gudme becomes a resistance fighter, is captured, and makes the ultimate, enigmatic leap of faith in death at the Gestapo headquarters in Copenhagen in 1944. The film intends to capture the tension between the concrete events and the inner struggle to express the ideological project that drives a person to give their life for a cause. Contemporary Danish veterans share their perspectives to add depth and perspective to the story, challenging us to confront the brutal aesthetics of war, death, gender, and the masculine interpretation of it all.
