Helena is a young woman who has spent her entire life on a spaceship after her parents abandoned her due to a technical malfunction. She lives a solitary life until Alex, an engineer, boards her ship for repairs. They develop romantic feelings for each other and begin a relationship. However, their love is put to the test when Alex reveals that Helena is a cloned human being created for a secret space simulation experiment. They try to escape from the authorities who want to terminate Helena but are captured. Eventually, they agree to return to Orbiter 9 for the Project to gain insights into a real birth and family growth inside the spacecraft.
