Betty Mahmoody, an American woman, thought she was just visiting her husband's family in Iran. But when her husband, Moody, reveals he has no intention of returning to the United States, Betty finds herself trapped in a nightmare. Forced to conform to Islamic law and under the watchful eye of Moody's family, Betty and her daughter Mahtob face an impossible situation. With limited options and increasing danger, Betty must rely on her resilience and resourcefulness to devise a plan for escape.
