A young American woman named Greta takes a job as a nanny in a remote English village, only to discover that her charge is a life-sized porcelain doll named Brahms that the elderly couple treats like their son. Despite her initial skepticism, Greta begins to follow the strict rules set by the Heelshires as strange events occur around her - a child's sobs are heard in the hallways, phone calls are cut off abruptly while she's on the phone with her sister, and the doll appearss to move on its own accord. As she delves deeper into Brahms' past, Greta becomes convinced that something malevolent lurks within the doll. But what is it, and how will she survive its wrath?
