In the comedy film "Venise sous la Neige," a struggling playwright named Christophe is desperate to finance his new play, which his girlfriend Patricia is set to star in. In an effort to secure funding, Christophe turns to an old friend who is about to get married and invites the couple to spend a weekend at his rural estate. However, Patricia, who is feeling particularly cold towards Christophe, decides to play a trick on their hosts by pretending to be a foreigner who speaks a made-up language.
