During the 1860s, strong-willed and independent Anna Leonowens, along with her young son Louis, travels to the exotic kingdom of Siam to serve as the governess and English tutor to the numerous children of King Mongkut. Despite their initial clash of personalities, Anna and the king grow closer as she works to teach the royal family about English language, customs, and etiquette. Meanwhile, an evil prime minister, Kralahome, plots against the king, threatening the stability of the kingdom. Anna must use her wit and courage to help the king and his family protect their throne and their way of life.
