His Girl Friday is a classic screwball comedy film that tells the story of Hildy Johnson, a talented journalist and ex-wife of Walter Burns, the hard-boiled editor of The Morning Post. Hildy is about to marry Bruce Baldwin, an insurance man, and settle down as a housewife in Albany. However, Walter is determined to sabotage their plans and entices Hildy to cover one last story before she leaves: the upcoming execution of Earl Williams, a convicted murderer. As Hildy delves deeper into the story, she realizes that Earl is not the cold-blooded killer he was made out to be. She bribes the warden to let her interview Earl in jail, where he reveals that he accidentally shot the police officer. Meanwhile, Walter does everything in his power to keep Hildy from leaving, including accusing Bruce of stealing a watch and framing him for various crimes. Despite her personal life being turned upside down by Walter's shenanigans ,Hildy's journalistic instincts take over as she chases down leads in pursuit of an exclusive scoop on Williams' story .
