Benio Hanamura is a young woman who defies traditional Japanese gender roles. Raised by her father, a high-ranking military official, Benio has developed a strong sense of independence and a desire to break free from societal expectations. She studies kendo, drinks sake, and dresses in Western-style clothing, which sets her apart from the traditional Japanese women of her time. Benio also rejects the idea of arranged marriages and believes in a woman's right to choose her own path. Will she find love and fulfillment in a society that often restricts women's choices?
