Drive Me Crazy is a romantic comedy movie that follows the story of Nicole Maris and Chase Hammond, two high school seniors who are opposite in every way. Nicole is the most popular girl in school, while Chase is a rebellious prankster. Despite their differences, they were childhood best friends until they drifted apart during junior high. During their senior year, Nicole devotes most of her time to planning the school's centennial dance, which she expects to attend with a popular basketball player named Brad. However, Brad falls in love with a cheerleader from a rival school, and Nicole is left without a date. Chase, who is dating a punky girl named Dulcie, is also left without a date when she leaves him for a socially conscious college student. One night, Nicole calls Chase and asks him to the dance, suggesting that they pretend to date to make Brad and Dulcie jealous. Chase agrees to her scheme, and they both agree to have an easy out clause in their relationship, so it can end at any time with no hard feelings. Nicole gives Chase a makeover to blend in with her preppy group, and he befriends popular kids, realizing that he has more in common with them than he thought. Despite insisting to his old friends that it's all a scam and he hasn't changed, they can clearly see the transformation. As they spend more time together, Nicole and Chase begin to fall in love, but they don't admit their feelings to each other or themselves. They continue their ruse, and things get complicated when Nicole's vindictive best friend, Alicia, seduces Chase at a party, making Nicole heartbroken. Chase calls Dave to pick him up, and Dave is angry that Chase has been accepted by the in-crowd, which he says is not true because he and Ray were not there. Chase retorts that Dave is merely jealous because he has never gotten into the cool clique whereas Chase has. Meanwhile, Brad and Kathy break up due to lies spread by Alicia., and Dulcie also ends things with Joshua . Chase attempts to talk to Nicole about what happened with Alicia, but she rebuffs him reminding him of the easy out clause. Eventually , Chase makes up with his friends and gets back together with Dulcie. Brad finally asks Nicole again to the dance. Despite getting what they both wanted from beginning, Chase unhappy with Dulcie and Nicole turns Brad down, and ends her friendship with Alicia. On the night of dance, With no date , Nicole calls Ray, who had offered take her earlier, goes to dance with him . While Chase out with Dulcie , she realizes doesn't want be there or with her . Ray and have Nicole fun together at the dance, departs upon Chases arrival, knowing that despite their claims that their relationship was never real , Chases the one she wants to be with . Chase asks Nicole dance and tells her to ask who they are trying to make jealous now, smiles and says "everyone". The movie ends with them dancing together.
