In the enchanting world of "Las Traviesas," a group of indigenous trans women from the Embera community in the Colombian coffee region, magic, dreams, and performance intersect. Aribada, a resurrected monster, is captivated by their beauty and power, and decides to join them in creating a trans*futurist community. This experimental documentary short film, directed by Simon(e) Jaikiriuma Paetau and Natalia Escobar, weaves together documentary and fiction to tell a unique transcultural tale, showcasing the filmmakers' backgrounds in both film and performance art. The film has been screened at numerous international festivals and received the 3satNachwuchspreis award at the 2022 Oberhausen Kurzfilmtagen.
