Kandahar is an action-thriller movie that follows the story of a freelance undercover operative named Tom Harris, played by Gerard Butler, who works for the CIA. Tom's mission is to insert malware into a secret Iranian nuclear research facility, which he successfully accomplishes. However, his cover is blown and he becomes the most wanted man in Afghanistan. Tom and his Afghan-American translator Mohammad "Mo" Doud must evade dangerous forces and make their way to an extraction point in Kandahar, while being pursued by Farzad and ISI agent Kahil Nassir. Along the way, they encounter various obstacles and are forced to fight for their survival. As they journey through the desert, Tom and Mo face challenges such as avoiding helicopters and finding aid from Tom's friend, an Afghan warlord. However, things take a turn when Mo reveals that the warlord killed his son years ago. Despite this revelation, the warlord provides them with a vehicle and they continue their journey to Kandahar. Meanwhile, Tom's CIA handler Roman Chalmers stops communicating with the CIA and arrives in Afghanistan to help Tom and Mo escape. The movie reaches its climax as Tom, Mo, and Roman face off against their enemies in a tense showdown at the extraction point. Will they make it out alive or will they fall victim to those who seek to capture them?
