Frequently Asked Questions

What is Janis: Little Girl Blue about? Toggle content

Janis Joplin, a Texas-born singer who rose to fame in the 1960s with her powerful, raw voice and unapologetic stage presence, is the subject of this documentary. Through a series of intimate letters, written by Joplin to her friends, family, and collaborators over the years, the film paints a portrait of a complicated, driven, and often beleaguered artist. Directed by Amy Berg, the documentary features narration by Cat Power and offers a fresh perspective on Joplin's life, beyond her rock-star persona and tragic death at the age of 27.
