En god film, som holder en på historien. Plottet med den svenske læge er dog lidt underligt, og medvirker ikke rigtigt til plottet. Er lidt unødvendigt.

What is In a Better World about? Toggle content

In a Better World is a powerful and thought-provoking drama that explores the complexities of human relationships and the blurred lines between vengeance and forgiveness. The story follows two families, one from Denmark and the other from Sudan, and their interconnected lives that are forever changed by an extraordinary friendship between two young boys. Against the backdrop of a refugee camp in Sudan, Anton, a Swedish doctor played by Mikael Persbrandt, struggles with his own demons while trying to save the lives of those affected by war. His wife, Marianne (Trine Dyrholm), is grappling with her own emotional turmoil as she tries to come to terms with the infidelity that threatens their marriage. Their two young sons, Elias (Markus Rygaard) and Christian (William Jøhnk Juels Nielsen), are struggling to find their place in this fractured family dynamic. When Christian, a new student at Elias' school from London, stands up to bullies who have been tormenting Elias for months – albeit in a violent manner – it sets in motion a chain of events that will alter their lives forever. The boys form a bond that is both endearing and dangerous, as they engage in a perilous game of vengeance and retaliation against those who have wronged them. As the story unfolds against the contrasting backdrops of Sudan's refugee camps and Denmark's idyllic countryside – both worlds filled with violence, loneliness, and sorrow – the characters must confront their deepest fears and flaws on a journey that tests the limits of humanity and morality itself. Through its masterful storytelling and superb performances, In a Better World raises profound questions about some of the most pressing issues of our time: the nature of evil, the impact of trauma, the fragility of human relationships, and the power of forgiveness in the face of overwhelming loss and injustice. It is an unflinching yet emotionally charged film experience that lingers long after its final frame.
