...an ode to what it means to make a film with unbridled creativity, without limits and without concern for commercial calculation.

Jodorowsky's statements tend toward the grandiose, but you never get the sense that he's a charlatan, or that he's overestimating his power to fill the screen with images no one had seen before.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Jodorowsky's Dune about? Toggle content

In 1975, visionary director Alejandro Jodorowsky embarked on an ambitious quest to bring Frank Herbert's classic sci-fi novel "Dune" to the big screen. With a star-studded cast, including his own 12-year-old son, Orson Welles, Mick Jagger, David Carradine, and Salvador Dali, and a soundtrack featuring Pink Floyd, Jodorowsky's adaptation promised to be a cinematic game-changer. But as the pre-production process dragged on for two years, Jodorowsky's team of avant-garde artists, including Jean "Moebius" Giraud and H.R. Giger, continued to explore the themes and styles of the project, ultimately influencing the course of science fiction in ways that would never have been possible if the film had been completed. Through interviews with industry legends and luminaries, including Gary Kurtz and Nicolas Winding Refn, as well as an intimate and sincere conversation with Jodorowsky himself, director Frank Pavich finally reveals the full story of "The Best Film Never Made."
