With Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny out in cinemas, the Letterboxd Show crew mounts a Four Favorites debate to determine once and for all which of the previous four Indy crusades is the best overall, which one has the best puzzles, and which is the horniest! Slim punts for Raiders of the Lost Ark (âNo one has ever lost a debate speech by saying they love seeing Nazis explodeâ). Gemma is all in for the PG-13 horror-show that is Temple of Doom (âItâs freaky!â). Mia has only love for Last Crusade, and Mitchell is the president of the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull admiration society.
Plus: that singular, torn-off sleeve, why Paul Mescalâs Gladiator workout is nothing compared to Fordâs shredding, why Slim sees himself in Temple of Doomâs Willie Scott, Spielberg as the ultimate ally for rats, Gemma and Mia thirst-riding the Disneyland Indiana Jones ride, and why Dial of Destiny is great for mathletes like Mitchell.

The last third saves this from movie from etarnal oblivion. Here we get some true Indi-feeling. The rest is just action piece after action piece and stuff we have seen a hundred times before.
Beautiful for a swan song⌠Mads Mikkelsen is super as a crook. He should only perform in foreign movies and stay away from Danish movies as they do nothing good for him as an actor.
8 is a stretch, Iâm aware. But for the ride through a lifetime of cinema alone Iâm willing to grant this very capable ending to the marvelous adventure of Indiana the extra half a star to get there. The original Spielberg franchise hits closer to ...Mehr erfahren
Of course this underrated curtain call couldn't possibly measure up to the original trilogy but it's an entertaining new adventure to which Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Toby Jones are perfect additions.
