Sardar Udham

Sardar Udham is a historical drama film that tells the story of a young Indian man named Udham Singh, who is deeply scarred by the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Escaping to London, Udham spends six years of his life re-igniting the revolution. On March 13th, 1940, he assassinates Michael O'Dwyer, the man responsible for the massacre, and is subsequently sentenced to death. The film explores Udham's backstory and his reasons for the assassination, as well as his impromptu speech in court and his 42-day fast in protest of his detention conditions. The film also shows how Udham's actions were influenced by his idol, Bhagat Singh. After India gains independence, Udham's ashes are brought back to the country and immersed in the Sutlej river, alongside Bhagat's. The film features a non-linear narrative structure, going back and forth between different periods of Udham's life.
